Penguins in Antarctica March to Protest Donald Trump

They make a black-and-white case for conservation

‘Waddle we want? No tariffs!’

Meet the most adorable, best-dressed political activists ever. And they’re squawking against Donald Trump’s global economic policies.

Rethink and nonprofit Penguins International turned the birds’ annual migration into a protest march of sorts.

Trump recently slapped a 10 percent tariff on the McDonald and Heard Islands in Antarctica—where only penguins live.

That move sparked snarky headlines and scorn across the interwebs. Which in turn provided a chance for PI to create a tie-in raising awareness of the need to protect the polar birds and wild spaces everywhere.

I think a few of those marchers leaned to the left.

“With the tariff story, penguins were getting a lot more attention than they usually do. But it felt to us like it wasn’t the kind of attention they needed,” say Rethink ACDs Nick Noh and Jordan Darnbrough. “So, we wanted to refocus it on something positive—donations and support for penguin conservation.”

The video’s approaching 3 million views since launching on Friday. A YouTube livestream is planned for April 16 at 5 p.m. ET.

Elsewhere, Mike Myers and Prime Minister Mark Carney recently told Trump that Canada will never become America’s 51st state.
