Cash App Pairs Timothée Chalamet With a Giant Beet
Which one is the better actor?

Timothée Chalamet wanders into a remote market—but he forgot to bring iron ingots, livestock or seashells, which rank among the only antiquated forms of payment the creepy place accepts.
If only the place would get with the times and take Cash App, the Hollywood A-lister could buy that big-ass mangelwurzel beet the proprietor keeps talking up:
Looks like Tim won’t go hungry, because he leaves with a couple of bags. Maybe he traded an autographed glossy for produce, who knows?
“Timothée was involved in the creative process, including the concept, script and direction,” says Cash App CMO Catherine Ferdon. “We wanted to give him creative freedom to share Cash App in a way that felt authentic and resonated with his millions of followers.”
T.C. worked with directors Aidan Zamiri and Elijah Bynum on the storyline, developing the spot with Cash App’s in-house creative team.
Previously, the brand cast Shaboozey in a time-tripping Western romp with similar themes.
That spot was perhaps a tad too odd for its own good. This new work feels more focused, with its Stranger Things vibe just edgy enough to hold viewers’ attention but not overwhelm. Chalamet plays the role of befuddled shopper to a T.
The ad’s 2-minute version will run mainly in cinemas before Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
